In high school, Reynolds was captain of the Torrance High School football team and played at the end position. He lettered in football and, in 1935, was voted by Torrance football fans as the third-string right tackle in a competition sponsored by the Torrance Herald. As a child, he delivered newspapers for the Torrance Herald and was a member of the First M.E. Church.

Reynolds joined the social club Torrance Moose in November 1933. He married Elizabeth M. Wilkens on February 28, 1935. After the war, he became a member of the Torrance V.F.W.
Reynolds’ funeral was held at the Stone & Myers Chapel on September 7, 1946. He is buried at Inglewood Park Cemetery and was given a final salute by the American Legion. He was survived by his parents and his brother, Fred Reynolds.
